The Secretary of National Defense of Mexico, General Salvador Cienfuegos Zepeda, welcomed in Mexico City his Haitian counterpart, Minister Hervé Denis who participated in the XIII Conference of Defense Ministers of the Americas (CMDA) at the working meeting of the ad hoc group "Mechanisms for co-operation and co-ordination in the fields of search and rescue".

"Mr. Minister, we hope that your visit to these lands will be pleasant and profitable for you and that you will fully achieve your goals. We ask you to send a greeting and an extended and fraternal gratitude to the women and men of your Nation," said General Salvador Cienfuegos.

In the presence of the Mexican High State Major and Minister Denis, of the Ambassador of Haiti in Mexico City Guy G. Lamothe and Louis Emile Levêque of the directorate of cooperation and member of the cabinet of the Minister Denis, were given the national honors to two countries, the chorus and military band of the Mexican army have sung the hymns of Mexico and Haiti.

Subsequently, a working meeting was held between the Mexican High State Major and the Haitian delegation, which helped identify avenues for cooperation between the two countries' armed forces as part of the vision of the new army of Haiti. Medical cooperation, military engineering, civil protection, training, exchange of experience were discussed. According to the information collected by HaitiLibre, Haiti's Ambassador G. Lamothe already has a busy schedule to follow up the Cienfuegos meeting with the various sections of the Mexican armed forces, in view of the holding of the other CDMA technical meetings to be held next October.

Herve Denis, whose it is first visit to Mexico City as Minister of Defense, is expected to return next October for the CDMA Technical Meetings, to be held in Merida, Yucatan.
