Haiti - Politic : D-1, interpellation of the PM, the majority bloc divided

Thursday, June 28, Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant will be present at the interpellation session, confirmed Guyler C. Delva the Minister of Communication, who said he hopes that the Deputies will renew their confidence in the Government.

The Group of 16 minority deputies of the opposition https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-24265-icihaiti-politic-deputies-formally-request-the-interpellation-of-pm.html (Joseph Manès Louis, Jean-Robert, Bertrand Sinal, Roger Milieu, Printemps Bélizaire, Alcide Audrey, Jean Marcel Lumérant, Enel Appolon, Déus Deroneth, Renald Exantus, Abel Descollines, Franck Lauture, Bien-Aimé A. Rodon, Gabriel Lionel, Charles Rodney, Julien P. Féquière) at the origin of this inquiry counts on a majority of vote within the Majority Group (APH) to obtain the censorship of the Prime Minister Lafontant.

However, Tuesday, 48 hours before the interpellation, the majority group (Parliamentary Alliance for Haiti - APH) which includes more than 70 deputies, had still not adopted a common position on the motion of censure of the deputies of the minority because of division among its members.

Some elected of the majority bloc are in favor of a vote of censure against the Prime minister, such as the deputy Fritz Chéry, former spokesperson for the pro-Martelly presidential majority in the lower house, supporter of the Privert/Jean-Charles administration, and today defender and personal friend of President Moïse who invites his colleagues to dismiss the Prime Minister by a vote of censure claiming "[...] to dismiss the Prime Minister would be the greatest service to President Jovenel Moïse [...]"

The Deputy Yves Duprat, member of the majority bloc estimates that about thirty other members of APH disappointed in the Management of the Head of Government would be ready to vote censorship, lamenting that many of his colleagues still remain faithful to the Policy of Prime Minister and others are still undecided and consult their constituents.

The block OPL / VERITE, ally of the power but also divided, had not yet adopted Tuesday of common position on the motion of interpellation.

The deputies argue that the eputies should not follow the instructions of their Bloc, but vote in light of the dissatisfaction expressed by the population.

A vote of censure, which has 24 hours of the interpellation, remains very uncertain.
