Back to the Schools : union disturbances

On Monday 3rd September, the day of the start of the school year, a group of teachers' unions including, among others: the National Union of Haitian Normal and Haitian Educators (UNNOEH), the National Confederation of Educators of Haiti (CNEH) and the National League of Haitian Teachers (LINEH) announces a march to denounce the mismanagement and excesses of the Ministry of National Education. The march will leave the Champ de Mars to finish in front of Parliament.

Return of nearly 100,000 Haitians in Haiti

Since October 2017, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) had to stop monitoring of the border of Haitians returning from the Dominican Republic deportees and volunteers due to lack of funding. Note that IOM's revised Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP 2017-2018) estimates that 96,000 Haitians may return voluntarily or deported from the Dominican Republic in 2018.
