Back to the Schools : union disturbances

On Monday 3rd September, the day of the start of the school year, a group of teachers' unions including, among others: the National Union of Haitian Normal and Haitian Educators (UNNOEH), the National Confederation of Educators of Haiti (CNEH) and the National League of Haitian Teachers (LINEH) announces a march to denounce the mismanagement and excesses of the Ministry of National Education. The march will leave the Champ de Mars to finish in front of Parliament.

11.9 billion Gde deficit

On July 26, 2018, the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) financed the State with 11.9 billion gourdes against 1.9 billion a year earlier.

Return of nearly 100,000 Haitians in Haiti

Since October 2017, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) had to stop monitoring of the border of Haitians returning from the Dominican Republic deportees and volunteers due to lack of funding. Note that IOM's revised Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP 2017-2018) estimates that 96,000 Haitians may return voluntarily or deported from the Dominican Republic in 2018.

Deputies ratify the amending budget

On August 30 in plenary session, after numerous amendments, the deputies of the Lower House unanimously ratified the draft of the amended Finance Act for the fiscal year 2017-2018.

World Physiotherapy Day

As a prelude to World Physiotherapy Day (8 September), the Office of the Secretary of State for the Integration of People with Disabilities recalls that rehabilitation professionals have a key role to play in the national health system "These professionals not only allow people with disabilities or those with pathologies to be at the peak of their physical or motor skills but also promote the prevention and improvement of quality of life. Together, let's work for a stronger national health system that takes into account more of the rehab professions !"
