Monday morning in the area of Carrefour-Feuilles specifically on the avenue Magloire Ambroise, near the Sanatorium (area of Carrefour-Feuilles), the businessman (sectors of the game and real estate) Eric Jean Baptiste and new Secretary General of the Rally of Progressive National Democrats (RDNP) https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-25269-icihaiti-politics-eric-jean-baptiste-takes-the-lead-of-the-rdnp.html was the victim of an armed attack when several unidentified individuals opened fire on the car where he was with 2 security guards and his 3 children he was driving to school.

Miraculously, at the sight of the numerous bullet holes on the vehicle, he appears to have been injured only in the arm and all passengers are safe and sound, according to the available information. Baptiste was taken to a hospital in the metropolitan area and his life is not in danger.

The Office of the Secretary of State for Public Security strongly condemned this attack and announced "an investigation is already underway and the entire state apparatus is mobilized to identify and arrest these thugs who will be punished in accordance with the law."

An assassination attempt that provoked many reactions, especially at the highest levels of the State :

President Jovenel Moïse :

"I have learned with emotion armed attack suffered this morning by the Secretary General of RDNP, Mr. Éric Jean-Baptiste and I wish him a speedy recovery. Instructions have already been issued for an expeditious investigation to shed light on this aggression."

Prime minister Jean-Henry Céant :

"I strongly condemn the armed attack perpetrated against Eric Jean Baptiste, Secretary General of the RDNP. While transmitting all my sympathies, I reiterate my Government's commitment to combat insecurity, whether it is ordinary or generalized."

DG of the Haitian State Lottery, Marie Margareth Fortuné :

"The LEH condemns with the utmost severity the attack perpetrated on the CEO of Père Éternel Loto and Secretary General of the RDNP, Eric Jean-Baptiste [...] and strongly hopes that an investigation will be conducted to identify the perpetrators of this barbarous act so that they can respond for their crime before justice. The Directorate wishes Mr. Eric Jean-Baptiste a speedy recovery [...]"
