Haiti - Education : Towards school recovery in earthquake affected areas
The Ministry of National Education expresses its sympathies to all the victims of the October 6th earthquake https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-25744-haiti-flash-earthquake-of-59-in-the-north-of-haiti.html which has caused significant damage in general and in the education sector especially in the departments of Artibonite and North-West.

Sunday, at the instruction of the Minister, the Departmental Directors of Education concerned made a first evaluation visit in the field to consider emergency measures for the relocation of damaged schools, for the rapid resumption of school activities. This involves placing students in another appropriate space or building temporary shelters for the immediate resumption of classes.

A second field mission is planned with the engineers of the Direction of the School Engineering (DGS) of the Ministry in order to evaluate, in a more thorough way, the extent of the damage and the options to be taken as regards the rehabilitation or the reconstruction of these schools.

The Ministry relies on the collaboration of all stakeholders to facilitate field work and assist affected schools.
