The OIF is over for Michaëlle Jean

The French Heads of State and Government rejected the candidacy of Michaëlle Jean, a candidate for a second term as Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF). It was the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Rwanda, Louise Mushikiwabo, who reached consensus in the closed election of members of the OIF at the Yerevan summit in Armenia.

Argentina : Honoring Haitian athletes

Thursday, October 4 at the Rodizio restaurant in Buenos Aires, Guy Metayer, the Ambassador of Haiti in Argentina hosted a reception in honor of Haitian athletes (Mateo Philippe Coles gold medal in horse riding https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-25789-icihaiti-riding-haiti-wins-gold-at-the-2018-youth-olympic-games.html , Guy Robert Michel and Judelande Altidor in athletics) who participate in the Olympic Games of the Youth taking place in Buenos Aires. Micro Hydroelectric Power Station on the Marion River

This Friday, October 12, a delegation of 30 trainees (20 rural engineers and 10 civil engineers) will visit the construction site of the dam of the micro-hydroelectric plant on the Marion River, in the community of Grand Bassin, Terrier Rouge (North-East) in order to strengthen the team working on site and to acquire new knowledge in the field.

US Equipment Donation

The U.S. Embassy donated material and equipment to Haiti's national water and sanitation agency DINEPA, to restore operations at two water production plants in Limonade and Cap-Haitien. This donation follows another recent contribution of a BOBCAT machine to the City of Cap-Haitien to help with trash collection.

Haiti - Vietnam Cooperation

On Thursday, on the sidelines of the 17th Francophonie Summit in Yerevan, Pham Bình Minh, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, met with Chancellor of Haiti Bocchit Edmond and welcomed the development of economic ties between the two countries. Edmond said that Haiti valued its relations with Vietnam and appreciated Natcom's work in Haiti for the company. Adding that Haiti hoped to welcome soon more Vietnamese companies.

The US alongside the MHAVE

US Ambassador to Haiti Michèle Sison met with Mamatha Irene Ternier, Minister of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE) to discuss their common priorities. Ambassador Sison reaffirmed the strong commitment of the United States to continue their successful partnership with the MHAVE and to promote their political objectives with regard to the security of US citizens and the promotion of diaspora investments.
