Following the announcement by the Chilean Government of President Sebastián Piñera on August 30 of a plan for the voluntary return of Haitian migrants to their country, known as the Orderly Humanitarian Return Plan, Senator Wilfrid Gelin (PHTK) who is on his second trip to Chile, accompanied by Senator Patrice Dumont (Rassemblement des Patriotes Haitiens - RPH) and Denis Cadeau (Bouclier) are in Chile for a week to meet the Chilean authorities and learn about the conditions of the "Humanitarian plan for an orderly return" proposed to Haitians. In the context of parliamentary diplomacy, he also intends to discuss new policies adopted by the Chilean authorities that obstruct compatriots to regularize their migratory status.

In addition, the three senators will also hold discussions with the Haitian consular and diplomatic authorities on their actions to represent and accompany compatriots face the difficulties encountered in Chile.
