After a week of paralysis in Haiti, the population has defeated on Monday the slogan of general strike launched by the radical opposition (26-27 November) both in the capital and in the provincial cities.

Schoolchildren returned to school and most shops and supermarkets reopened gradually. The small traders also resumed their activities and the sidewalks filled with pedestrians hour by hour.

Public transit and motorcycle taxis have resumed their regular activities. Several unions have denounced on the air of radios of the the capital, this call to strike for which they claim not to have been consulted, pointing out that the population needs to work.

The police presence is very visible at intersections and patrols crisscross the streets.

For the radical opposition it is a real failure against a population that has enough of this paralysis imposed with its manifestations, its violence and its daily victims.
