At the invitation of the Global Partnership in Education (GPE), Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education, at the head of a delegation participate from 14 to 16 January 2019 in Washington to a high-level Technical Workshop. This activity is part of the finalization of the 10-year Education and Training Plan (PDEF) and the financing of education projects in Haiti by the GPE.

This is an essential step in the partnership between the GPE and Haiti, which should include a fundinf access of $16.5 million to support educational projects.

Other technical and financial partners, particularly the European Union, UNICEF, UNESCO and the World Bank are taking part in these exchanges, which should ultimately lead to the release of funds for Haiti in the field of education and a consensus on the possible adjustments for the finalization of the final document of the PDEF https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-25804-haiti-politic-last-line-for-the-education-and-training-ten-year-plan2018-2028.html

Among other things, it will be necessary to identify and adjust certain elements of the 10-year plan, according to the GPE's prescriptions for drawing up sectoral education plans and conditions for access to the partnership fund. The GPE quality assurance process, funding model, comments and feedback on the PDEF document, the development of a road map on the next steps in GPE-MENFP cooperation, the support of the World Bank and the GPE in support of the Education Management Information System of the Ministry are the main themes that will be addressed during these 3 days of work.

Monday at the launch of the workshop, Alice P. Albright, the Director General of the GPE, was delighted to welcome the Haitian delegation. She said her institution is sensitive to Haiti's problems and wants to contribute to the country's development effort in education. But the procedures for obtaining funds from the GPE have changed a lot, hence the importance of this meeting.

Let's remember that the Global Partnership for Education supports more than 65 developing countries in the field of education. It is a multi-stakeholder partnership and funding platform aimed at strengthening education systems in developing countries, to significantly increase the number of school children engaged in effective learning. It brings together developing countries, donors, international organizations, civil society, teachers' organizations, the private sector and foundations.
