Haiti - Mexico : Successful Haitian migration integration in Tijuana and Mexicali 11/03/2019 08:28:11
At the Daniel Cosio Villegas Auditorium of the College of Mexico (COLMEX) in the presence of the Diplomatic Corps, the Secretariat for External Relations (SRE) of Mexico, NGOs, Funding Agencies, civil society organizations and students, was presented a study on recent Haitian migration to Tijuana and Mexicali and their insertion.
This study was conducted by Coulange Méroné, a Haitian researcher who graduated from Colmex Scharz, and one of the panelists was the Chargé d'Affaires ai of the Embassy of Haiti in Mexico City, Minister Counselor Garvey Jean Pierre.
The main thrusts of the Meroné presentation focused on: the strategy deployed by the Haitian side face the problem, the support of the Mexican Government and the results obtained.
The operation, which he describes as a win-win scheme developed by the authorities concerned, allowed the regularization of the migratory status of 4,000 Haitians based in Baja California.
