Haiti - Health : $15M from Canada to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rates 10/05/2019 10:57:56 This ceremony is part of the World Midwives Day (May 5), celebrated this year under the theme "Midwives Defenders of Women's Rights" was held in the presence of the First Lady Martine Moïse, Evelyne Sainvil, Minister for the Status of Women, André Frenette, Ambassador of Canada to Haiti, UNFPA Representative and UN-Women Representative in Haiti and several other civil, political and judicial. It aims to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rates by improving the sexual and reproductive health of women and girls in four departments of the country (Grande Anse, the Southeast, the Nippes and the North-West), to thus contribute to the reduction of gender inequalities and the empowerment of women and girls to make informed choices in the exercise of their sexual and reproductive rights.
