A little more than 3 weeks after the second continuation "sine die" the session is in a stalemate, speaking on a radio in the capital Monday, Carl Murat Cantave said that negotiations and discussions are ongoing with all Senate blocks including the group of 4 senators (G4) of the political opposition to set a date for the next sitting in the Senate, noting that discussions and harmonization of relations with these 4 senators are well under way.

The President of the Upper House said that he had discussions with Head of State Jovenel Moïse about the political crisis that is preventing the ratification from taking place, and he also invited President Moïse to make sacrifices :

"As Speaker of the Senate, I invite Jovenel Moïse to do his best in the current situation. The head of the executive must make the necessary and useful final sacrifices to unblock the crisis."

He also said he asked Jovenel Moïse to write to the Senate office asking for a frank dialogue with all senators regardless of their political ideology.

Threat

Carl Murat Cantave, President of the Senate of the Republic has also threatened to close the parliament if the next sesion goes wrong "Either the sesion is carried out on high measures of institutional security, either on behalf of the office, I close the Parliament for its restructuring."
