Haiti - UN : In October, no more peacekeeping armed force in Haiti 27/06/2019 09:29:06
Following this week's vote on UN Security Council Resolution 2476 creating the "UN Integrated Office in Haiti" (BINUH), https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-28079-haiti-un-flash-after-minujusth-now-the-binuh.html a Special Political Mission of about thirty people, which as of October 16, 2019, will take over from Minujusth, Haiti passes from Chapter 7 in Chapter 6 of the United Nations Charter.
This means that Haiti will be considered as a country with normal operations and that from October 16, 2019, there will no longer an armed component (UN peacekeepers) in the Haitian territory
This resolution, confirms the recommendations of the Secretary-General of the UN Antonio Guterres https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27118-haiti-politic-un-recommends-the-creation-of-a-special-political-mission-in-haiti.html and the request of the Haitian authorities.
According to Chancellor Bocchit Edmond, this decision will have positive repercussions for the country insofar as "foreign investors will no longer see Haiti as an unstable country with a United Nations peace mission".
