Haiti - Politic : Creation of two important parliamentary committees

Yesterday Tuesday, the 2nd session of Parliament has enabled the creation of two important committees. Sixty-five Deputies answered the roll call.

The Senate proceeded to the formation of a special commission, composed of Senators : Jeanty, Evallière Beauplan, Wencesclass Lambert, Michel Clérié, Jean William, Youri Latortue and Moïse Jean-Charles.

This commission will be charged to investigate on the disputed final results of second round of parliamentary which calls into question the victory of 17 seats in the House of Representatives and two in the Senate, mostly for the benefit of the ruling party (INITE). The Commission will review the report of the Joint Mission of the OAS / CARICOM (JOEM), which recommends the consideration of preliminary results for elected disputed. In addition, the Commission will conduct interviews with different sectors in an attempt to resolve the serious post-electoral crisis caused by the proclamation of the results.

On the other hand, both Houses (Deputies and Senators) have agreed on the creation of a second Commission composed of 15 members [9 Deputies and 6 senators] who will be in charge of the examination of the declaration of amendment of the Constitution. The two blocks constituting this commission, should submit their respective report Thursday and Friday, before the start of the "marathon" of votes for the revision of the constitution where nearly 50 articles are concerned.

In addition, several members of the diaspora of the collective "Banma dwa m", having more than one million signatures collected in the diaspora, participate in various sessions of Parliament to sensitize parliamentarians on the issue of dual nationality.
