Haiti - Education : $7M to improve the quality of learning

A new project called "Quality Assurance System" (SAQ), funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for $7 million over 18 months, in support of public schools, has just been launched by the Ministry of National Education.

The SAQ will be implemented in 37 fundamental schools, recently built by the Ministry and financed by the IDB: 5 schools in the department of Artibonite, 7 in the Center, 6 in the North, 7 in the North-East and 12 in the Department of the West.

Meniol Jeune, the Director General of the Ministry said the project operations will mobilize a dozen partner organizations in different areas related to strengthening quality education. He recalled that this initiative is part of the shift towards quality begun by the ministry in recent years.

For his part, Eliccel Paul, the Head of the Project Coordination Unit of the Ministry presented the main thrusts of this project : teacher training, strengthening the leadership of school directors and their management capacity (educational, financial , administrative...), improvement of learning conditions through the provision of textbooks and school kits, development of certification of hygiene-friendly schools, creation of a school-friendly environment and development of socio-emotional activities (activities sports, cultural and artistic) and pedagogical supervision.

Evelyne Margron, IDB representative at this activity, expressed her satisfaction at the launch of the SAQ, which marks the beginning of another area of ​​public/private partnership aimed at improving learning conditions and providing education. quality in national schools.

Note that the Tipa Tipa Foundation, the Great Valor Foundation (Futból Más), the Progress and Development Foundation (PRODEV), the Liver and Joy Association, InnovEd, the Quisqueya University, the P4H Global Organization, "Anseye Ayiti ", the" Scholas occurentes "Foundation and the Office of Nutrition and Development (BND) are involved in the implementation of the SAQ.
