The United States, concerned by the ongoing socio-political and economic crisis and the resurgence of violence in Haiti, have been stepping up missions since the beginning of the year to encourage the establishment of a legitimate government. As the second Monday of January 2020 comes closer, ringing the end of the mandates of all Deputies and 1/3 of senators, making the Parliament dysfunctional, leaving the President to govern by decree, Americans are showing more and more insisting that there be a legitimate Government in Haiti before the end of the year to address the urgent problems of the Haitian people.

This new mission led by David Hale (his 2nd this year after that of March 2019), the Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs, should be in Haiti in early December. Hale will meet with President Moïse, opposition leaders and the business sector to encourage them to quickly equip Haiti with a functional and legitimate Government by the end of this year, according to our sources.

So far, publicly, the radical opposition has rejected any idea of ​​integrating a Government with Moïse and any dialogue, however, it is rumored that exchanges are held in secret between the Executive and some members of the opposition...

Recall that this next mission of American officials around the crisis, will be the 5th in Haiti since the beginning of the year.
