Haiti - Education : School census and accreditation of private schools
The Ministry of National Education organized last week a 2-day workshop for information, consultation and awareness of stakeholders, around the school census and the accreditation process for private schools in Haiti.

This workshop enabled the National Technical Coordination team (CTN) of the Education Management Information System (SIGE) to inform stakeholders and partners, particularly local authorities, on the new approaches adopted for the school census and the accreditation process for private schools.

The CTN team and that of the Information System Unit (USI) shared the new approaches for the 2019-2020 school census. In the new strategy adopted, it is a question of strengthening the Departmental Directorates of Education so that they can organize the census themselves and process the data at the local level. At the end of the process, a departmental directory will also be published, underlined Yves Roblin, the Director of the Planning and External Cooperation Department (DPCE), who stressed the importance of micro-planning.

Director Volvick Charles of the Directorate of Support for Private Education and Partnership (DAEPP) for his part, took stock of the new guidance document concerning the accreditation process for private schools and stressed the need to validate this public policy document which specifies the new directions. For his Assistant Director Walex Pierre, this tool being finalized is the work of experts inspired by the Decree of September 11, 1974 on the opening and operation of private schools.

Note also that the DPCE took the opportunity to present a technical work carried out in partnership with the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Information (IHSI) on the codification of schools (School Code).
