Monday Dr. Lauré Adrien Director General of the Ministry of Health announced at a press conference, a new confirmed case of Covid-19 bringing to 6 the total number of people infected in Haiti (+ 20% since yesterday https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30338-haiti-flash-3-new-cases-of-covid-19-in-haiti.html )

He declared "With the speed of propagation of the Covid-19 pandemic, we will unfortunately reach Phase 2 where we will no longer be able to assert with confidence, the number of confirmed cases and ensure that the situation will not change [...]" adding by insisting, "We need an active participation of the population in the fight against the Covid-19." The population must follow universal measures, including hand washing, respect for social distancing, avoid touching the face" while reminding the population, to deny certain false information that circulates, that more than 80% of people with Covid-19 are in mild form and are not in critical situations requiring hospitalization or emergency breathing assistance.

Stressing that "diabetics and people with cardiovascular disease are more vulnerable" before the Covid-19

According to the Laboratory and Research Epidemiology Directorate, 104 people are currently in quarantine in 5 departments (Artibonite, Center, North, North-East and West).

Quarantine dated March 23 :

Artibonite: 31 cases in hospital and 2 at home

Center: 6 people in hospital

West: 15 people in hospital 35 cases at home

North: 10 cases at home

North East: 3 cases at home

Note that the results of the National Laboratory tests are not yet available.
