GLOBAL SITUATION :
Monday March 23, 2020, the number of people infected worldwide by the coronavirus Covid-19 since the beginning of the epidemic amount to to 343,421 (laboratory confirmed cases, official source) an increase of 36,080 cases (+ 11.74%) compared to the previous day : https://www.haitilibre.com/article-30335-haiti-covid-19-bulletin-quotidien-22-mars-2020.html

Since the start of the epidemic 98,896 people have been cured of Covid-19 worldwide (+ 7.0%), 6,513 more than yesterday.

The number of people infected worldwide (active cases) is currently 229,760 (+ 13.79%) or 27,851 more than yesterday.

Since the start of the epidemic 14,765 people have died of Covid-19 worldwide (+ 13.24%), 1,726 more than yesterday.

HAITI :
Epidemiological situation in Haiti:
The Ministry of Public Health informs that so far there are 25 suspected cases: Artibonite (2), Center (2), North (1), North-East (1), West (17) and South (2) . The National Guard deployed in 3 States :
On Sunday, President Donald Trump made the National Guard available to Washington, New York and California (most affected by Covid-19) to support the efforts of these 3 states. In addition, Trump has announced the establishment of field hospitals in these 3 States.

New-York strengthens its measures :
New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo on Friday ordered the closure of all non-essential businesses and requested that all non-essential workers remain at home. This measure officially entered into force on Sunday March 22 at 8:00 p.m.

Justice tackles fraudsters :
Federal justice has attacked for the first time this weekend fraud related to COvid-19, by ordering the closure of a website that sold an imaginary vaccine. Federal proceedings have been launched against the site coronavirusmedicalkit.com which claimed to distribute vaccines against for Covid-19 when there is none, announced the Ministry of Justice in a press release.

QUEBEC :
Monday, the Montreal Heart Institute, begins a "Colcorona" clinical study to treat severe respiratory problems with Covid-19. 6,000 Canadians are invited to join this study which aims to test colchicine for 30 days. The patients sought must have been declared positive for Covid-19, be over 40 years of age and not be hospitalized, willing to take the drug or placebo for one month and able to make two follow-ups by telephone or videoconference. From March 1 to 20, 202 cases of Covid-19 coronavirus were registered in the Republic, 3 people died and 395 others were tested negative.

41 confirmed cases had a history of travel to contaminated countries, 34 local transmission and 127 cases are currently under study. At an online press conference on Sunday morning, Minister of Public Health Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas said that the majority of the 202 positive cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) were "linked to parties and rallies where people have been in contact with foreigners from countries where there is community circulation of the virus. The cruise on the Costa Fabulosa, a wedding celebrated in Punta Cana and another party (which he did not specify) are the main sources of contagion from the Covid-19". FRANCE :
Clinical treatment trials in Europe :
A clinical trial on 3,200 patients hospitalized for a Covid-19 infection in a medical service or in intensive care or with respiratory assistance, was launched this Sunday in 7 European countries (France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, UK, Germany and Spain) to test four experimental treatments for Covid-19, the French Ministry of Health announced on Sunday.

The four treatments will test the following drugs: Remdesivir; Lopinavir in combination with Titonavir, the latter treatment is associated or not with interferon beta and hypoxychloroquine, according to Inserm, the organization that oversees medical rehabilitation in France.

Epidemiological situation in France :
Jérôme Salomon, Director of Health, revealed that since the start of the epidemic in France, 16,018 cases have been confirmed, 35% of which are under 65 years of age. 7,240 people are hospitalized and 112 additional deaths compared to Saturday were reported in hospitals, bringing the total number of deaths to 676. Hospitals currently receive 1,746 serious cases in intensive care and more than 1,000 people were hospitalized between Saturday 21 and Sunday March 22.

Two months to the day after the quarantine of Wuhan, epicenter of the global Covid-19 epidemic, no new contamination was reported on Monday for the fifth consecutive day.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games uncertain:
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Ab said that now a postponement "may be inevitable". Canada, meanwhile, has announced that it will not send any athletes to Tokyo this summer if the Games are continued. The International Olympic Committee gives itself 4 weeks to take a final decision.
