GLOBAL SITUATION :
Saturday March 28, 2020, the number of people infected worldwide by the coronavirus Covid-19 since the beginning of the epidemic rose to 602,262 (laboratory confirmed cases, official sources) and increase of 64,454 cases (+ 11.98%) compared to the previous day: https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30379-haiti-covid-19-daily-bulletin-march-27-2020.html

Since the start of the epidemic, 131,854 people have been cured of Covid-19 worldwide (+ 6.9%), 8,542 more than yesterday.

The number of people infected worldwide (active cases) is currently 442,519 (+ 13.36%) or 52,150 more than yesterday.

Since the start of the epidemic 27,889 people have died of Covid-19 worldwide (+ 15.59%), which is 3,762 more than yesterday.

Since the start of the epidemic outside China 520,266 cases have been confirmed (+ 15.15%), in 177 countries or 68,449 more than yesterday.

24,590 deaths (+ 18.0%) were reported outside China, 3.799 more deaths than yesterday.

HAITI :
Food kit distributions :
On Friday, the Government announced a series of interventions that will allow vulnerable populations in difficult neighborhoods to receive food kits to deal with the situation caused by the Covid-19 coronavirus, one of the measures to avoid the spread is to restrict his movements.

Ernest Chatelier Managing Director of the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) at a press conference explained that a plan called Operation "pòt a pòt" (door to door) was developed and consists of direct supply to households in order to limit their trips to the territory. The distribution of food kits started by the elderly and disabled as well as breastfeeding mothers in the first phase, in several municipalities in the metropolitan area, including Lakou malo in Tabarre and Zoranje in Cité soleil.

UNITED STATES :
Epidemiological situation :
New York City: 26,247 active cases (+ 15.39%) or 3,500 more cases and 450 deaths (+ 23.29%) or 85 more deaths since yesterday.

Miami Dade (FL): 867 active cases (+ 32.57%) or 213 more cases since yesterday

On Friday, New York State, the epicenter of the pandemic in the United States, recorded 44,635 confirmed cases (43% of all cases confirmed on American soil), 2,045 cures and 519 deaths, figures which according to experts should continue to increase to the expected peak in the next 21 days. Of the 44,635 cases, 6,481 people are hospitalized and 1,583 are in intensive care on ventilators and 2,045 have recovered.

The Stock Market Up This Week :
At the close on Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 4.06% to 21,636.78 points, but gained 17.6% on the week-longest rise in a week since June 1931.

The Nasdaq closed at 3.79% at 7,502.38 points, but increased weekly by 9.1%.

The S&P 500 lost 3.37% to 2,541.47 points but up 10.3% over the week.

QUEBEC :
Epidemiological situation :
In Quebec, 2,021 cases were confirmed (+ 24.0%), 392 more than yesterday and 18 deaths (+ 125%), 10 more than yesterday. In Montreal, the epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic in Quebec, 971 cases are confirmed (+ 24.17%), 189 more than yesterday.

Montreal declares local health emergency :
Valérie Plante, the mayor of Montreal, declared a state of health emergency. This measure, provided for in law, grants many powers to the City of Montreal. Among the measures to come in the coming hours or days: authorization to shop on foot only within 1 km of the home; limiting the number of people allowed to shop per household; random police checks on several access bridges to the city; and restrictions on certain religious communities with high contamination rates.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC :
Epidemiological situation :
In his daily report Friday, the Minister of Public Health, Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas, reported that the number of confirmed cases amounted to 581 (+ 22.0%), 105 more than yesterday. 20 people died (+ 200%) compared to the previous day. ON this point he clarified that the 10 new deaths came from San Francisco de Macorís (Province of Duarte) and that these were people with a history of chronic diseases. Out of these 581 confirmed cases, 437 suffering from mild symptoms are in isolation at home (+ 19.0%) compared to yesterday, i.e. 70 more people and 121 people (+ 28.7%), i.e. 27 more than yesterday, have been in hospital isolation.

Main affected provinces: National District registers 273 confirmed cases, Duarte (59), Santiago (66), Santo Domingo (66), La Vega (16), La Altagracia (11), San Pedro de Macorís (13) Puerto Plata (11 ) and Espaillat (10). 9 out of 32 provinces have no cases.

FRANCE :
Epidemiological situation :
32,964 cases confirmed since the start of the pandemic, 15,732 people hospitalized, 3,787 in intensive care, 5,707 recovered and 1,997 deceased (+ 17.6%) or 299 more than yesterday.

To date there have been 25,710 active cases (+ 12.2%) or 2,796 cases more than yesterday which were reported in 576 health establishments. Currently 3,904 people are hospitalized and 3,375 are in intensive care.

Containment extended by 15 days:
Prime Minister Edouard Philippe confirmed on Friday that the containment measures were extended until at least April 15, 2020 ... This period could indeed be extended again depending on the development of the situation.

EUROPE :
Over 16,800 deaths in Europe :
The Covid-19 killed more than 16,800 people in Europe, the majority in Italy (9,134), Spain (5,690) and France (1,997). With more than 275,000 confirmed cases, Europe is the continent where the pandemic is currently progressing most rapidly.

Tips :
Basic advice protect yourself and avoid the spread of Covid-19 as much as possible, in case of introduction in Haiti :

  • Always cough or sneeze into your sleeves or elbow, never on the other person's face or in your hands;
  • Use tissues to wipe your hands or face and then throw them in the trash and then wash your hands;
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap or alcoholic water. You can also use a "sanitizer";
  • Avoid close contact with someone with flu-like illness and invite them to seek treatment;
  • Avoid contact with vulnerable people if you are sick;
  • Avoid greetings like handshakes and kisses;
  • Avoid touching your nose, eyes and mouth;
  • Avoid large gatherings as much as possible;
