Haiti - Earthquake 2010 : Message from the Ambassador of Haiti to Canada 12/01/2021 10:59:39 Excerpts from the message of the Ambassador of Haiti : "January 12, 2021 brings back the 11th anniversary of the earthquake that struck Haiti. The enormous material and human losses recorded have exposed the vulnerability of Haiti, by extension of the entire Caribbean, to natural disasters. Everywhere, people rushed to help, to express their solidarity. In Canada, post-earthquake assistance has been multifaceted and continued for several years. Instead of continuing to travel to Haiti for humanitarian missions, it would be more beneficial to make post-Covid travel plans there to admire its beaches, mountains, historic sites and enjoy its climate and the benevolence of its people. population. Better still, we must encourage investments with social and humanitarian impact. Not in the sense of the humanitarian business where people exploit the images of the vulnerable to beg on their behalf for help that will never reach them. We need goodwill Canadian or multinational companies who, by agreeing to inject capital into the Haitian economy, know full well that profits will rain, but are aware above all that their investments will facilitate the integration of young people on the labor market [...]" HL/ HaitiLibre
