Haiti - USA : Former Haitian-American Marine Duroseau sentenced to 5 years in prison

Jacques Yves Sebastien Duroseau (34) born in Haiti former Haitian-American Navy stationed at Camp Lejeune was sentenced to just over 5 years in prison for illegally exporting firearms to Haiti

Let's recall that the former naval sergeant was caught smuggling arms into Haiti. Duroseau told investigators after his arrest at the Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, that he wanted to help the Haitian military learn to shoot and defeat the bandits responsible for the insecurity in Haiti.

In December 2020, following a three-day trial before U.S. District Judge James C. Dever III, the jury found the accused guilty of conspiring to illegally export and smuggle weapons and controlled equipment from the United States to Haiti, as well as transporting unlicensed firearms to the Haitian army https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-32512-haiti-usa-duroseau-arrested-in-haiti-in-2019-found-guilty-of-arms-trafficking-in-the-united-states.html

Prosecutors said Duroseau boarded a plane at the Coastal Carolina Regional Airport in New Bern on November 11, 2019 and was wearing a Marine Corps uniform from an inactive reserve unit in the Marines. Court documents show that he passed himself off as a high-ranking military officer and claimed to be in Haiti for military matters in order to notably pass 8 firearms, but also ammunition and other equipment https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-29259-haiti-security-all-details-on-the-weapons-of-war-seized-at-toussaint-louverture-airport.html :
