Haiti - Environment : Monthly seismic bulletin (March 2021) 07/04/2021 10:43:52 45 earthquakes of magnitudes between 1.0 and 4.5 were recorded throughout the national territory during the month of March 2021, (-16% compared to February 54). 35 earthquakes (77.8%) occurred at sea, which could have presented a tsunami risk if the conditions had been met. Most of the earthquakes in March occurred at depths varying between 0 and 38 km, so shallow earthquakes. Seismic activities resumed in the department of Nippes during the month of March after suffering a small seismic crisis on February 23 during which at least four (4) earthquakes of magnitudes between 3.3 and 4.2 on Richter scale were recorded https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-33099-haiti-flash-at-least-4-earthquakes-in-nippes-in-less-than-5-hours.html The departments most affected in March are the South-East with 12 earthquakes (26.7%), Nippes with 11 earthquakes (24.5%), the North-West with 7 earthquakes (15.6%) and the West with 7 earthquakes (15.6%) which makes a total of 37 earthquakes out of 45 for the four departments, or 82.4% of the earthquakes recorded for the month. The rest of the earthquakes occurred 5 in the South (11%), 1 in Gran'Anse (2.2%), 1 in the North-East (2.2%) and 1 in Artibonite (2.2 %).
