On Wednesday July 7 in the early evening, during the press briefing live on the National Television of Haiti (TNH), Léon Charles Director General a.i. of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) declared. "[...] the police at the site of the operation continue to chase these mercenaries, we have blocked them on the roads leading to the crime scene, since that night we have been fighting against them, several have taken refuge at Pélerin level, we engaged in a battle with them, 4 of them fell, 2 were intercepted and are under our control and we recovered 3 police officers who had been taken hostage.

As I speak to you the police are engaged in the battle with these attackers we are chasing them so that either in the exchange of fire they find their fate and fall or that they are apprehended [...]"

In his intervention, Pradel Henriquez, the Minister of Communication declared "[...] we recall that there is a state of siege which was set up this morning [...] it is a measure that the Government took on a situation of great danger [...] today we have men with large weapons who have landed on a territory which is not theirs, they are not Haitian, it is true that there were Haitians with them [...] it is foreigners who speak English and Spanish who entered the house of an elected President, and he had done nothing to deserve this fate [...]" Henriquez stressed that the current police operation could last all night until the attackers are routed.
