Haiti - Education : Minister Manigat concerned about the paralysis of schools in the red zones 02/12/2021 08:23:03 It was an important meeting, given the challenges and the future of many children who are still awaiting the resumption of school activities in these areas. For the Minister, it is inconceivable that school activities are still paralyzed in these areas. This is why he wanted to discuss the situation with those concerned and see what possible solutions for resuming school activities. Several Directors of public and non-public schools took the floor to describe the situation of their establishment and the overall deleterious environment in terms of security which prevents the normal functioning of their school: permanent attacks, gunshot wounds, near deaths. daily, constant fear of school staff fleeing the workplace, student migration etc... Despite this, these school officials say that the thirst for work is there and the expectations of families are high for the education of their child. According to their accounts, most schools are no longer functioning and children have not been entitled to a single day of school since the start of the school year 2021-2022. An alarming and disturbing finding considers Minister Manigat strongly shaken by these damning testimonies. He proposed to his interlocutors a second working meeting within a week, to better address viable proposals and to explore further to identify possible solutions to give hope to these young people who are waiting for the bread of education. Note that this important meeting was held in the presence of members of the Minister's office, several senior officials of the Ministry, in particular Louis Fritz Dorminvil Inspector General of Education, Maxime Mesilas Director of Secondary Education, Hérold Latortue Coordinator of the departmental directorates of education, of Coordinators of the General Directorate, Jackson Joseph and Nelson Pierre, as well as of several agents and officials of Edupol, the community police assigned to education.
