Haiti - Demonstrations : The revolt rumbles, at least 2 dead and several injured

Tuesday, September 13, all activities were paralyzed in Port-au-Prince, the doors of public administration, banks, supermarkets and transfer houses remained closed, while the population had descended in large numbers in the streets to protest sometimes violently against the upcoming adjustment of fuel prices at the pump announced by Prime Minister Henry https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-37623-haiti-flash-address-to-the-nation-the-pm-talks-about-elections-and-rising-fuel-prices-video.html whose demonstrators demand the departure…

Barricades of burning tires, tree trunks and rocks had been erected on several roads blocking car traffic and even pedestrians in places...

The cities of Les Cayes, Cap-Haïtien, Petit-Goâve and Jérémie also woke up in the midst of barricades.

At least two gunshot deaths have been recorded, in the capital a pregnant woman and an activist according to various sources in Delmas 3 and Delmas 17.

Clashes with the police which would have injured several people and acts of vandalism have been reported

At Delmas 17, unidentified individuals fired and threw stones at the National Old Age Insurance Office (ONA) which they tried in vain to invest, repelled by dissuasive shots from the security agents of the institution.

In addition, individuals attacked Model FM radio in Pétion-Ville, the property of Senator Rony Célestin. A radio employee was injured and material damage recorded.
