Haiti - Politic : The Senate asks the PM to postpone the intervention of a foreign armed force in Haiti
Following the resolution of the Council of Ministers of October 7, authorizing Prime Minister a.i. Ariel Henry to "request and obtain from Haiti's international partners effective support through the immediate deployment of a specialized armed force, in sufficient quantity to stop, throughout the territory, the humanitarian crisis caused, among other things, by the insecurity resulting from the criminal actions of armed gangs and their sponsors", the Senate on October 9 voted a resolution asking the Prime Minister to postpone the execution of this decision.

The Assembly of Senators proposed and voted the following resolution:

Article 1. - The Assembly of Senators requests the de facto Prime Minister Ariel HENRY to immediately suspend the execution of the resolution of October 7, 2022 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-37831-haiti-flash-towards-a-foreign-armed-intervention-in-haiti-to-eliminate-gangs.html

Article 2. - The Assembly of Senators asks the political, economic and social forces to grant the benefit of urgency to the discussions in progress in order to reach a sufficient consensus for a lasting exit from the crisis.

Article 3. - The Assembly of Senators asks the Protector of the Citizen to request the expertise of the main organizations working in the human rights sector in order to obtain, as of now, humanitarian corridors which guarantee the exit of fuel from the terminals.

Article 4. - The Assembly of Senators asks the de facto Prime Minister Ariel HENRY to grant a reprieve to the implementation of the new fuel prices at the pump to relieve small budgets and the poorest;

Article 5. - This resolution will be submitted to the Executive for the purposes of promulgation and publication in the Official Journal of the Republic, Le Moniteur.
