The situation at the national penitentiary as of October 11 was 203 suspected cases, 12 confirmed cases and 14 deaths. A treatment center was opened there with a capacity of 40 beds, including 25 beds provided by PAHO/WHO and 10 others by MSF Holland.

According to the latest situation report from the Ministry of Health, three departments are affected by the epidemic, mainly the department of the West (554 suspected cases), but also that of the Center (4 suspected cases) and Nippes (2 cases suspects) pending confirmation of laboratory results.

According to report #3 from the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) dated October 11, 2022, the 13 cholera treatment centers (CTC) in place have a capacity of 394 beds, including 374 for the West department and 20 for the Center department. A new CTC managed by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Holland opened on October 11 at Hôpital le Messie in Port-au-Prince, with a capacity of 37 beds and the possibility of reaching 50 in the coming days. In support of the Ministry, MSF France, Belgium and Holland manage a total of five CTCs, some of which are integrated into existing health structures, and the Gheskio Institute two centres.

In the current context, the partners involved in the response to the epidemic must face the logistical constraints posed by the insecurity and the blockage of the Varreux oil terminal. The national laboratory, in particular, is faced with the lack of fuel to be able to carry out the rapid analysis of the samples taken.

Note that due to travel difficulties and insecurity (access to areas controlled by gangs and urban guerrilla areas) this assessment is partial.
