Haiti - Politic : First reactions after the vote, of Sorel Jacinthe
Sorel Jacinthe, the President of the Bureau of the lower house, was visibly pleased with this vote, where 89 on the 90 deputies present [the President of the House not having the right to vote] allowed the ratification of the Prime Minister-designate, Dr. Garry Conille.

Sorel Jacinthe explains "the almost abscence of debate" in the House, to the fact that the the debates took place in the media [?]. Visibly confident, he has no doubt that the Senate will vote for the candidate for the Prime Minister's Office, and already speak of the General Policy statement of the Prime Minister...

"...I will inform the President of the Republic that with 89 votes in favor, 0 against and 0 abstentions 0 [...] Garry Conille is well and truly ratified as Prime Minister [...] I will write today to the President in order that he asks to the Prime Minister ratified, to prepare the statement of his General Policy...

The Senate [...] will form its Commission and request the documents of the Prime Minister to do the same job, but nevertheless, I think that for us, we can already ask [...] to prepare general Policy Statement.

can not really say that the vote has generated a lot of debate... there are some deputies who have asked to speak on details, however, I think that he real discussion was done through radio, through the press. [...] the real debate was on Article 157, I think that it has been proven that according to the conventions, according to the laws of this country and the Constitution, that Mr. Garry Conille is resident, he has a residence according to the extra-territorial law. As a leading UN official, his residence is in Haiti. So it is in this sense hat we all agreed. It is in this sense, that the Deputies, after all the discussions that have been made in the media [...] that the Assembly, really edified on Article 157 has voted for Mr. Conille as Prime Minister..."
