Haiti - Politic : The radical opposition of the SDP satisfied with the agreement of December 21

"The result of sufficient political consensus between the private sector, civil society and the political class, the historic compromise of December 21, 2022 represents an important step in resolving the political and institutional crisis that our dear Haiti," says the SDP

"The Democratic and Popular Sector (SDP) salutes the spirit of overcoming that guided the Haitian political class in the choice of the emblematic Mirlande H. Manigat to represent it within the High Council of the Transition. The SDP invites the Prime Minister, Ariel Henry, to proceed with the implementation of the political agreement of December 21, while leaving the door open to dialogue and compromise.

The SDP now asks the international community "to sincerely assume its commitments to Haiti by helping to first solve the problem of insecurity; condition 'sine qua' not for the constitutional revision and the organization of the elections. Only the presence of a robust international force can curb the kidnapping, rape and odious murders of peaceful citizens [...]"
