Haiti - Insecurity : «Keeping children in school is a fight» dixit Minister Manigat

Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of National Education held the first meeting with dozens of academy inspectors, Directors of public and private schools working in areas under the control of armed groups, such as Pernier, Fesa, Swason , Ganthier, Croix-des-Bouquets, Kanaran, Corail, Cité-Soleil, Sibè, Divivier, Damien, Martissant, Grande-Ravine, Lassaline and Croix-des-Missions

Minister Manigat wanted to hear these education agents explain all the problems they face in keeping children in school or trying to open the doors of their school.

These superintendents and principals spoke strongly about the issue of gun violence, which is a major problem. But also, as in many other localities, they are confronted with sanitation problems, not to mention the case of many parents who are unable to prepare their children to enter school. From then on, the speakers never stopped asking for State support for the schools, for the students and for the parents.

During this meeting, the Minister Nesmy Manigat praised the determination of these educational agents who continue to brave all kinds of dangers in order to make schools work. Due to the fragility of the situation, Minister Nesmy Manigat believes the other State bodies must continue to do their work while encouraging all the other educational communities in sensitive areas to continue working to keep children connected. to the reality of the school.

"One of the biggest challenges this year for many school districts in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area and some other areas is keeping children in school. It's a big challenge because if the children stay on the street, the situation will be even more serious", underlined the Minister who promised that the Ministry of National Education will not stop striving to respect one of its main missions which is to make it easier for all children to go to school and stay in school in good conditions, everywhere in the country.
