Haiti - Canada : The former PM Laurent Lamothe, wrongly sanctioned, brings his case before the Federal Court (Video)

Former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe sanctioned by Canada on November 20, 2022 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-38184-haiti-flash-canada-sanctions-martelly-lamothe-and-ceant.html considers the victim of political targeting intended to eliminate an entire class of Haitian politicians. He accuses Ottawa of having based its decision on articles found on the internet and of being misinformed before sanctioning him.

Laurent Lamothe intends to defend his honor and dignity and challenge the sanctions issued against him before the Federal Court, even if according to experts, no one has yet succeeded in winning such a case in the past.

Lamothe says that after asking what evidence Canada relied on to say it had facilitated the activity of criminal gangs in Haiti, World Affairs Canada allegedly sent him two articles found on the internet "These two articles do not cite not even my name and don't involve me in anything. So I wonder, so far, what I am being accused of" wonders the former Prime Minister who finds the behavior of the country of human rights scandalous...

If Lamothe did not want to make these said articles public on the advice of his lawyer, for his part Global Affairs Canada said he refused to comment on a file which is the subject of a judicial review and has neither denied nor confirmed having sent two articles to Lamothe justifing the addition of the latter on the list of sanctioned.

For the benefit of our readers, the former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe often assimilated to the PHTK, the party which governed at the time, clarified that he is not a member of the PHTK.
