Haiti - Canada : PM Trudeau spoke on Haiti with the PM of Barbados and the President of the Dom. Republic 02/04/2023 09:15:57
Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau spoke this week with Mia Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados and Luis Abinader, President of the Dominican Republic. The two leaders expressed their concerns about the deterioration of security in Haiti and spoke of the need to provide support that will resolve the political, humanitarian and security crises in the country. They highlighted the important role that CARICOM plays in fostering the establishment of an inclusive political dialogue and recommitted themselves to working together to meet the urgent needs of the Haitian people. Leaders also discussed their role as co-chairs of the UN Secretary-General's SDG Advocates Group and next steps to advance their priorities and ensure continued progress. Thursday, March 30, the Canadian Prime Minister met with the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader. The two men stressed the need to contribute to the resolution of the crisis in Haiti and expressed their concerns about the deterioration of security conditions in this country. They insisted on the need to hold accountable those who encourage violence, corruption and instability in Haiti.
