Haiti - Justice : Launch of the 8th Moot Court Competition, applications open

The Human Rights Office in Haiti (BDHH) invites young lawyers from the country to participate in the 8th edition of the 2023 Human Rights Moot Court Competition.

As every year, the Competition is open to graduating law students and young graduates from the various Universities of Haiti.

"International sanctions & the fight against impunity" is the theme chosen for the written pre-selection of this 8th edition.

Written pre-selection rules:

Article 1

The Competition is open to law students who have completed at least three (3) years in one of the Universities of Haiti. either:

• students enrolled in the 4th year;

• students memorizing:

• students who have been dismissed for less than a year, excluding those already registered at the bar school and/or who have already taken the oath as a trainee lawyer.

Article 2

Students who have participated in previous editions of the Competition have the right to compete again. excluding those who participated in a final phase (semi-finalists, finalists and winner).

Article 3

The Competition takes place in two stages:

The written pre-selection and the oratorical contests. The pre-selected students will be invited to participate in the oratorical contests which will be the subject of separate regulations.

Article 4

Registrations for the written pre-selection are open until Saturday, June 10, 2023, 9:00 p.m. They must be made from the online form accessible at the address: https://forms.gle/ bWwBjBoP89SHBfUB9

Article 5

The written preselection covers the theme:

"International sanctions and the fight against impunity". The dissertations are selected by a jury on the basis of the relevance of the text, the quality of the argument. knowledge of the law and commitment to human rights.

Article 6

The dissertation should be written in size 12. new roman font. line spacing 1, in 3 pages maximum. Any overrun represents an unfavorable factor. The file must be saved in .word or .pdf format and be named "CONCOURS NAME FIRST NAME".

Article 7

A document attesting to the quality of the candidate must be attached to the file.

It can be, depending on the case:

• a certificate of achievement or a transcript of marks from the 3rd year

• a certificate of registration in the 4th year

• a certificate of achievement or a transcript of marks from the 4th year

• a defense report

• a bachelor's degree in law

Article 8

Any file that is incomplete or sent after the deadline will not be taken into account. For all questions. candidates are invited to write to concours@bdhhaiti.org or call the BDHH secretariat at 3606-8645.

Article 9

Candidates will receive an automatic acknowledgment of receipt to their email address confirming the submission of their file. The results of the preselection will be communicated by email and on the website: www.bdhhaiti.org
