The laying of the first stone by the local authorities will take place on Monday December 10, 2023 in Limonade, in the locality of Mouchinette where it was decided to prepare part of the Mouchinette land, approximately one hectare, in order to set up a pre-infrastructure (temporary) to provide a rapid solution to the waste problem in Cap-Haïtien, Quartier-Morin and Limonade while awaiting the completion of the mega project which will take 3 years.

"Despite the fact that this pre-waste treatment infrastructure will be temporary, it will be modern and it will be the first time that Haiti will have such a Center. The work will cost more than US$1.5 million. Everything that is Construction will look at the UTE and the Project Coordination Unit, will be responsible for activities to strengthen town halls.

Note that the "Boukannen Tann Bouyi" pilot project will be carried out on 1 hectare but that the Solid Waste Management project in the North of Haiti (GDSNH) led by Sam Propublic will be carried out overall on 40 hectares of land of which 19 hectares are already fenced.

Let's remember that the GDSNH was launched in December 2018 (and delayed due to land problems), with the objective of creating more health infrastructure for municipal solid waste management and wastewater treatment.

Funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Public Treasury, the UTE manages a little more than 31 million US dollars.

The overall objective of the Project is to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of the Northern region of Haiti through the improvement of hygiene and management practices and the implementation of management and final disposal infrastructure. solid waste.

In particular, it will support the consolidation of the Société Anonyme Mixte (S.A.M.) to manage the solid waste service in the northern region of Haiti.
