Haiti - Education : A Haitian delegation in France

After January 12 the Academy of Sciences, the National Centre of Space Research (CNED), the World French-speaking Digital University (UNFM) and the French Ministry of Education have joined forces to provide support to teachers of basic education in Haiti, of this union was born among other things an intensive program of tele-training, covering four years of basic education, offering modules in mathematics, science, use of information technology and communication, health education and school inclusion, this program takes into account the linguistic aspects Creole-French.

Forty teachers from the EFACAP (Basic School of Application Teaching Support Centre) of Kenscoff have already completed the programwhose objective is both to train teachers and to revitalize the existing Haitian structures.

Recently the Academy of Montpellier, closely associated with this project received a delegation of education consultants, technicians of the Ministry of Education and Ms. Cirta Jean-François, director of the school of application of Kenscoff.

The delegation, eager to create a science resource center, focuses on the approach of investigation and the environmental issues, discovered with great interest the operation of the resource center of Vailhan, a center whose mission is to accompany the classes of primary and college of the department of Herault in the implementation of projects of education for sustainable development.

Members of the delegation noted that many of the actions of this center can be transposed in Haiti : the reception of classes on the ground around issues related to sustainable development ; teacher training on the site ; conception and lending of general teaching tools (water, air, renewable energy...) or related to a specific area of action...

Ms. Jean-Francois brought a close look at the educational garden of the Abelanier where are implemented skills and knowledge which far exceed only the cultural (farming) practices, experience that she will try to reproduce in the garden of EFACAP in Kenscoff.
