Haiti - Justice : The OPC demands an investigation into the death of the 5 BSAP agents
The Office for Citizen Protection (OPC), an independent national institution for the protection and promotion of human rights, expresses its deepest concerns following clashes recorded during anti-government demonstrations in the metropolitan area and in different regions of the country. or many unfortunate incidents have been recorded.

In Pétion-ville, 5 agents of the Protected Areas Security Brigade (BSAP) were shot dead (Zéphyrin Daniel, Mackendy Veillard, Dorvil Jean Fontange, Chrisner Désir and Clersaint Thomas) and three others arrested by agents of the Haitian National Police (PNH) in Laboule https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-41621-haiti-flash-3rd-days-of-demonstrations-violence-deaths-and-destruction.html in circumstances which remain remain troubling.

In the name of respect for the general principles of human rights, in accordance with its mission to ensure compliance by the State with its commitments in the area of human rights, requires State authorities to form, without delay, a commission of independent investigation, responsible for determining the circumstances of this killing in order to establish the possible degrees of responsibility with regard to the theory of command, recognized in matters of human rights.

The OPC invites those who govern, those who are governed, all actors and all sectors of national life to make democratic principles their battle horse beyond political differences with a view to building a rule of law in our dear Haiti.
