Haiti - FLASH : 3rd days of demonstrations, Violence, deaths and destruction
Wednesday February 7, 2024, high tension in Port-au-Prince and several other cities in the country where activities remained paralyzed.

Armed members of the Protected Areas Brigade (BSAP) who were traveling aboard a pickup in Laboule refused to obey the orders of agents of the Departmental Unit for Maintaining Order (UDMO), followed by intense exchanges of fire between members of the BSAP and the UDMO which caused panic among the population, 5 members of the BSAP were fatally injured and 3 others were arrested and disarmed. Weapons were seized, including an M4 rifle, an Uzi and a 12 gauge shotgun and ammunition. Let's remember that many BSAP agents have pledged allegiance to Guy Philippe in his revolution which he calls "peaceful".

The situation is potentially explosive in the metropolitan region of Port-au-Prince. Hundreds of demonstrators accompanied a small group of BSAP agents who expressed their determination to accompany the population to overthrow the Prime Minister. The police on several occasions used tear gas grenades to disperse the demonstrators...

Jérémie :
In Jérémie, thousands of people marched against the power in place with its share of barricades and burning tires. The premises and warehouse of the Departmental Emergency Operation Center (COUD) of Grande Anse located on the national road, were ransacked then looted by the population who took, among other things, computers, tables and air conditioners...

Les Cayes :
The city of Les Cayes experienced another day of tension and blocking of its activities. An attempted looting was foiled by security agents and the police. A protester was stabbed. The very aggressive demonstrators, some of whom were hooded were armed with knives and machetes, led by leaders of the "Pitit Dessalin" (Jean Charles Moïse) and "Engagés pour le Développement" (EDE - Claude Joseph) parties, covered several streets of the city in shouting 'revolution !'".

Miragoâne :
The premises of the regional office of the National Old Age Insurance Office (ONA) were the target of stone throwing. Shots from security guards at the institution were reported. Public and private activities did not work

Hinche :
For a third consecutive day, Hinche experienced a day of tension and paralysis of its activities. Individuals ransacked and looted the departmental office of the Ministry of the Economy and those of the town hall. Several building fires have been reported.

Gonaïves :
An impressive crowd attacked the concrete erected with imposing barricades made of burning tires. In Bois-Marchand, a food store, owned by a police inspector, was looted despite the intervention of the police... In the afternoon, a group of unidentified individuals vandalized and set fire to the regional office of the Ministry of Planning, at least their vehicles parked near the office were also set on fire

Cap Haïtien : Several thousand people, many of them masked, invaded the streets of the city of Cap-Haïtien. A private business on the road to the Cap-Haïtien airport was looted. The demonstrators also attacked several businesses, particularly shops selling cell phones. The police, under the throwing of stones and bottles, once again used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators...

Ouanaminthe:
In the town of Ouanaminthe, there are reports of looting and burning of several public institutions. The premises of the Peace Court, the Haitian Red Cross and the Town Hall were vandalized, looted and set on fire. Paryaj Pam's office, located on Alternative Street, was looted. RN#6 was blocked by barricades of burning tires. The activities of the CODEVI free zone textile park have once again been suspended for the safety of Haitian and Dominican staff.
