Haiti - FLASH : 6 men sentenced to pay $6.2M in damages to Martine Moïse and her son Joverlein 08/06/2024 09:47:47

They are: Antonio Intriago alias "Tony", Director of a security company in the Miami area, "Counter Terrorist Unit Security" (CTU); Arcángel Pretel Ortiz, a former FBI informant when he joined Intriago; Walter Veintemilla, a Broward County financier; James Solages, a Haitian-American and Sanon who was initially seen by the group as Jovenel Moïse's successor as leader of Haiti. In the restitution agreement filed last week in Miami federal court, Judge Martinez did not identify the widow and eldest son by name in his final ruling. They are listed as "Victim 1" and "Victim 2". However, Paul Turner, Martine Moïse's lawyer claims that Victim 1 is his client; Others familiar with the matter say President Joverlein's eldest son, Moïse, is victim 2. Of this sum, Martine Moïse (who currently lives in South Florida) is to receive $5,305,387 while Joverlein Moïse will receive $865,396. However, in reality it remains to be seen how much the widow and eldest son of the President will receive when the we know that only 1 of the 6 condemned owns some property... The judge's order does not specify why the defendants were ordered to compensate Joverlein Moïse who was not present in the house at the time of the assassination.
