Haiti - Case Bélizaire : Postponement of the session of interpellation ?

The commission of Inquiry on the case of Arnel Bélizaire at the level of the senate, composed of five members (the Senators : John Joël Joseph, Jean William Jeanty, Andrys Riché, Dieuseul Deras Simon and François Anick Joseph), responsible for identifying those responsible and try to determine the responsibilities in the arrest of Deputy Bélizaire, requested a postponement to Tuesday, November 22 for the continuation of the session of interpellation of Josué Pierre-Louis, Minister of Justice and Michel Brunache, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. Recall that the interpellation session has already been postponed twice within a month.

For his part the Senator of Nippes Jean William Jeanty declared "the report will not be ready in time" adding "We have no interest to organize a session in haste" deeming abnormal and inconceivable that the session of interpellation previously scheduled for November 15 take place without the report of the Commission of which he is the president, but he believes that the work of the commission progress well but it was delayed because of the government retreat, and that the latter will provide to the senators a serious report, which will be able to assist the senators to make better decisions and also to see who is responsible.

The senator Jeanty also indicates that the commission's mandate goes beyond the date of November 15. "We have formally written to the President of the Senate to ask a postponement [...] we believe that if we continue to advance at the same rate by Thursday, Friday we will have finished writing the report and we will present the report to the Assembly," he concluded.

Yesterday the commission heared the ministers of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs Laurent Lamothe ; and of Interior, of Territorial Collectivities and National Defense, Thierry Mayard Paul.
