Haiti - Education : Important workshop 1/2 month before the start of the 2024-2025 school year

A month and a half before the start of the school year, the Ministry of National Education is organizing a workshop from July 12 to Sunday July 14, 2024, in Pétion-ville which brings together the heads of the general pole coordination, technical directorates, directorates general opinions of decentralized organizations and members of the cabinet of the Minister of National Education Augustin Antoine

At the opening of this workshop, the Minister was very clear about his expectations. From his point of view, it is necessary to improve the education system. The various initiatives undertaken must have direct repercussions in classrooms by targeting student performance; for this, it is important to "facilitate the harmonization of projects while maximizing their impacts."

"It is indeed crucial for our Ministry to work in a coordinated and coherent manner in order to guarantee the success of our actions and the quality of our services,” declared Antoine, stressing that it is above all a question of generating synergy in the actions in favor of education in Haiti.

Four themes animate and guide the reflections and discussions developed during this workshop.

1. The Ten-Year Education and Training Plan (PDEF), the Annual Operational Plan (POA) and the Roadmap or Framework Letter from the Technical Directorates for the year 2024-2025;

2. Mapping the interventions of the Technical Directorates with the support of international donors and field operators;

3. The establishment of a digital communication and dialogue system for the harmonization of interventions and cooperation between the Technical Directorates ;

4. The creation of a system for monitoring the actions to be undertaken for better interactions between the bodies financing the projects and the Technical Directorates, taking into account real needs, especially those of the classroom.

At the end of this workshop, Minister Antoine expects a report on the status of each entity that will enable it to make the necessary decisions to optimize the limited resources allocated to the sector. He considers it necessary for his administration to have a good diagnosis a month and a half before the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

For his part, Joseph Job Maurice, General Coordinator of the Education and Quality Department of the Ministry, focused his intervention on the need for technical entities to understand not only the foundations of certain Ministry projects, but also the mechanisms and strategies to be developed to mobilize donors.
