The largest solar power plant in Haiti

"The start-up meeting for the construction of the largest photovoltaic solar power plant (12 MW) in Haiti took place this week at the Caracol Industrial Park (North East). Haiti is diversifying its energy mix by integrating renewable energies," informs Evenson Calixte, Director General of the National Authority for the Regularization of the Energy Sector (ANARSE).

Security : Preliminary to an anti-gang operation ?

Wednesday July 17, 2024, around ten armored vehicles of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and MaxxPro infantry armored vehicles, assigned to the Multinational Mission transporting Kenyan police officers were seen at the Champ-de-Mars, in downtown Port-au-Prince. Several Kenyan police officers accompanied by their Haitian colleagues carried out what appears to be a joint operation in the streets of Port-au-Prince. After patrolling the perimeters of the Champ-de-Mars, the police moved in armored vehicles to position themselves at rue Pavée, close to the base of the "Izo 5 segond" operating in Village-de-Dieu without more details from the authorities for security reasons...

Transfer of 155 detainees

On Wednesday July 17, 2024, 155 detainees from the Carrefour civil prison were transferred to the Petit-Goâve civil prison by sea, due to growing insecurity in the commune of Carrefour.

Jamaica : On-site assessment before deployment

Jamaica plans to send a team of police officers to join the Kenyan-led Haiti Mission in Port-au-Prince to help fight gangs. Haitian police authorities met with 6 members of a Jamaican delegation who are carrying out an evaluation tour before deploying their officers to Haiti. Officials say Jamaica is committed to sending its police officers as soon as possible.
