Haiti - FLASH : The death toll rises, 79 victims including 26 dead
The Ministry of Public Health informs the population that, since Saturday, its various departments have been fully mobilized to provide support to the victims of the tragic explosion of a tanker truck in Miragoâne, in the Nippes department. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-43207-haiti-flash-tanker-truck-explosion-at-least-64-victims-video.html

From the first moments of the tragedy, a coordinated response was put in place to rescue the injured, both medically and logistically. To date, 4 health structures are actively involved in the care of the 53 burn victims admitted to our health institutions.

11 ambulances provide transport and inter-hospital transfers for patients requiring specialized care. On Sunday, 6 Médecins Sans Frontières ambulances were on their way to Nippes to evacuate 12 other patients according to Emmanuel Pierre, National Director General of Civil Protection.

On Sunday morning, Georges Fils Brignol, Minister of Health, accompanied by Gabriel Thimothé, Director General of the Ministry, and several heads of central departments, chaired an emergency meeting to assess the situation, adjust strategies, and adopt the solutions needed for an appropriate and effective response.

Evacuation operations to specialized health centers continue unabated, in order to guarantee optimal care for burn victims. The Ministry, in collaboration with its national and international partners, reaffirms its commitment to provide all necessary support to relieve the victims of this tragedy.

On Sunday, September 15, Prime Minister Conille visited the burn victims at Saint Boniface Hospital and declared on his account "X" "It is with great emotion that I visited Saint Boniface Hospital in Fonds des Blancs to help evacuate the victims. I salute the courage and professionalism of the medical staff at this hospital, as well as the other hospitals, who are doing their best to treat the injured and support their loved ones."

The latest partial toll stands at 26 dead (+2 deaths recorded in Sainte Thérèse and Saint Boniface hospitals) and 53 injured...
