Haiti - Social : Psychosocial workshops for the benefit of women journalists, artists and artisans of Noailles (Video)
From December 9 to 13, 2024, UNESCO, in partnership with the Haitian Psychology Association (AHPsy), the Solidarity of Haitian Women Journalists (SOFEHJ) and several local actors, is organizing a series of psychosocial workshops at the Cultural Center of Brazil, located on Darguin Street in Pétion-ville, for the benefit of women journalists, artists and artisans of Noailles deeply affected by gang violence.

These women, who have a painful history, will find in these workshops psychological support to express their emotions, rebuild self-esteem and give meaning to their lives.

For five days, these women will benefit from comprehensive psychological support, combining group sessions and individual consultations. In a secure and caring space, they will be able to express their emotions through art and creativity. Thanks to AHPsy experts, they will explore proven techniques such as relaxation, cognitive therapy and meditation.

This initiative, funded by the Global Media Defense Fund and the US Department of State, is part of a comprehensive UNESCO approach to protect those who keep culture and information alive in Haiti.

Beyond psychological support, UNESCO offers training and equipment to journalists to help them work safely. It is a message of hope for all those who, despite the difficulties, continue to create and inform.
