Haiti - Education : Launch of the school canteen in the communal schools of Port-au-Prince

The General Coordination of the National School Canteen Program (PNCS), in partnership with the City of Port-au-Prince, officially launched on January 23, 2025, the School Canteen for the benefit of 8 communal schools located in Port-au-Prince

This launch was held in the presence of Youri Chevry, Mayor of Port-au-Prince and his deputies, school directors and PNCS employees.

Feeding schoolchildren in communal schools in Port-au-Prince in order to facilitate school learning is the objective of this activity launched by the General Coordination of the PNCS and the City of Port-au-Prince, because school feeding, according to the authorities, is the linchpin of excellent student learning.

8 communal schools in Port-au-Prince will benefit from daily hot meals by next week, announced Me Kevenot Dorvil, General Coordinator of the PNCS. "Despite the difficulties that the Commune of Port-au-Prince is experiencing, the PNCS will institute, by next week, the school feeding program in all communal schools in the commune."

The interventions focused on raising awareness among stakeholders and actors in the country to work for the well-being of the country's schoolchildren in order to support education with local products in school feeding. "Yon jou lekòl, yon jou Kantin. Chak jou gen lekòl dwe gen manje pou elév yo san oken n distenksyon" reiterated Me Kevenot Dirvil.
