Haiti - FLASH : The 4th Kenyan contingent arrived in Port-au-Prince as well as 3 helicopters (Video)
Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 11:02 a.m. a Kenya Airways plane with a Kenyan contingent on board landed at Toussaint Louverture International Airport https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44218-haiti-flash-a-new-kenyan-contingent-heading-to-haiti.html , two days after the arrival of a contingent from El Salvador https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44210-haiti-flash-arrival-of-a-new-contingent-of-70-salvadoran-soldiers-video.html

This 4th Kenyan contingent was welcomed by Leslie Voltaire, President pro tempore of the Transitional Council, accompanied by Prime Minister Didier Fils-Aimé, the Acting Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) Normil Rameau and the Commander-in-Chief of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS) Godfrey Otunge. Several ambassadors were also present, including Dennis B. Hankins (United States), Antoine Michon (France), André François Giroux (Canada) and Marco Peñín Toledano (Spain).

Among the new Kenyan arrivals is an elite all-female SWAT team, a highly trained tactical unit bringing specialized expertise to the field. Their remarkable arrival, fully geared and ready for action, attracted the attention of local and international media https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44107-haiti-flash-kenya-to-deploy-all-female-swat-team-to-haiti.html . Like their male counterparts, they will play a key role alongside the PNH.

In addition, the mission’s operational capabilities have been significantly enhanced. Air support was improved thanks to El Salvador, maritime capabilities were strengthened with contributions from the Bahamas https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-43848-haiti-flash-two-bahamian-military-ships-expected-in-haiti.html and land operations were optimized thanks to equipment provided by donor countries.

45 minutes after the landing of the Kenya Airways flight, an Antonov Airlines cargo plane from El Salvador landed, carrying three helicopters intended for medical evacuations (Medevac) and casualty evacuations (Casevac).
