Haiti - Health : Cuba reaffirms its scientific and humanitarian commitment to Haiti

The Cuban Medical Brigade in Haiti will organize the 23rd National Scientific Conference, from October 3rd to December 3rd, 2025, with the participation of Cuban and Haitian professionals, high scientific level, and social commitment, announced the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).

Under the motto "Updating and deepening knowledge for better service" the conference will be dedicated to the centennial of the birth of Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016), 27 years of medical collaboration in Haiti, the 192nd birthday of Carlos J. Finlay, and the first year of the Family Medicine Program in Haiti. Ninety-five scientific papers will be presented.

The Cuban Ministry of Health explained that priority issues such as dengue fever, malaria, typhoid fever, lymphatic filariasis, and HIV/AIDS will be the main targets to be addressed. Particular emphasis will be placed on advancements in the family medicine program, as well as strategies in areas such as hygiene, epidemiology, surgery, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, and medical entomology.

This initiative aims to consolidate research as a key pillar of clinical and therapeutic development, for the direct benefit of the Haitian population, while reaffirming the Cuban Medical Brigade's commitment to regional public health, using science and solidarity as tools to address the most pressing health challenges.

The location in Haiti will be announced at a later date.
