Situation report on the crisis in Haiti (January-March 2026)
The Artibonite and Central departments, as well as the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area, in Haiti, continue to be severely affected by gang violence. Homes have been burned, and kidnappings and rapes are on the rise. Some 1.4 million people have been forced to flee their homes, and thousands more have lost their lives.
Despite the security challenges, the United Nations Sexual and Reproductive Health Agency (UNFPA) and its implementing partners continue to provide Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services and combat gender-based violence.
In the first quarter of 2026, UNFPA provided SRH services to 7,470 people and conducted GBV prevention and treatment activities for 5,580 people. 2,792 dignity kits were also distributed to displaced women and adolescent girls, along with 100 inter-agency reproductive health (IAHR) kits provided to health facilities and non-governmental organizations to meet the needs of 5,489 people.
UNFPA is launching a $32.8 million appeal to strengthen and expand access to vital sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence services in Haiti by 2026.
As of March 2026, the total amount received since the beginning of the year is $1.8 million, representing only 5.5% of the funding required. Given the worsening needs in Haiti, additional funding is urgently required to ensure essential health and protection services for women and girls.
