Haiti - Social : Voluntary return of 297 Haitians from the Dominican Republic
The Office of Citizen Protection (OPC) has participated, last week, at the border Ouanaminthe/Dajabon, to the welcome of 297 of our compatriots, coming from the Dominican Republic. Arrived in several buses, this voluntary return falls within the framework of a program called "Pwogram pou asiste migran ayisyen ki vilnerab kap retounen ak pwop volonte yo" executed by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in collaboration with the migration service of the Dominican Republic.

It should be noted that this program identifies people who wish to return voluntarily to Haiti. Each individual receives on the day of his arrival an amount of USD$50 o facilitate its transport. In a second phase, they receive from the OIM, by promoters appointed for this purpose, an amount of USD$200 to serve as a starting point for a business run by these families while waiting other support promised by the IOM.

Other National and international institutions contribute to the successful completion of these operations in favor of migrants such as the OPC, the Institute of Social Welfare (IBESR), the National Police of Haiti (PNH), Solidarity Fwontalye, the Sisters of Saint-Jean l'Évangéliste to Ouanaminthe, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Swiss Red Cross (SRC) and the Minustah.

The Office of Citizen Protection said it appreciated this initiative and encourages all community organizations and institutions to work once again, so that our countrymen can be treated humanely.
