Haiti - Social : The JCI Haiti launches the Fortnight of the active citizenship

The Junior Chamber International Haiti (JCI Haiti), officially launched Saturday, August 11, 2012, the fortnight of "the active citizenship" to mark its six years of existence in Haiti. This fortnight can be summarized by a set of targeted actions of large national network of young active citizens of Haiti, for the benefit of various communities the Junior Chamber International Haiti (JCI Haiti) is represented.

The actors of this movement of young volunteers, firmly believes that the positive change of the country must pass necessarily by the commitment of every Haitian citizen in the national causes. To make the promotion and the popularization of the active citizenship in the process of reconstruction of Haiti, becomes a necessity.

To this end, from 11 to 26 August 2012, the Junior Chamber International Haiti puts into activity its entire network to raise awareness through action, the different layers of the Haitian society, on the importance of the commitment of every citizen in the process of the national reconstruction and of positive change. Thus, a set of activities are planned by the different local structures of the CI Haiti, to achieve the objectives set within this fortnight.

Saturday, the local Junior Chamber of Petion-ville (JCI Innovation) organized in the premises of the National Directorate of Water Supply and Sanitation (DINEPA) for the youth of communities of Petion-ville, Delmas and of downtown, a conference debate on the themes : Civic responsibility in relation to universal human rights and promotion of the citizen participation of women in social and political struggles. With the objective to give women the desire to invest and act in the different spheres of Haitian society and to encourage the empowerment of young people by the respect of their rights and duties towards their local communities and national.

August 18, 2012 - 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, the local Junior Chamber of Croix des Bouquets (JCI Sublime), gives rendezvous in the premises of the library of the town, in order to achieve with young people and for the youth an Awareness Day and of training around the issue of drugs. This activity will contribute to the fight against this social problem and reduce the prevalence rate among young Haitians.

August 25, 2012 - JCI Sublime, organize for the benefit of the community of Croix des Bouquets a mobil clinic accompanied by an awareness campaign on chronic diseases. Junior Chamber of Delmas (JCI Excellence), will visit Boucan Carré to perform the same activities for the benefits of this community.

August 26, 2012 - Always in Croix-des-Bouquets, a conference will be held on active citizenship, with the youth of the organization and community members.

Recall that the fortnight of the active citizenship of JCI Haiti, coincides with the sixth anniversary of its International reaffiliation. To celebrate this event and to close this fortnight, a birthday dinner will be given August 26 at the Hotel Visa Lodge [Tabarre].

This organization engages young people to take in charge the destiny of their community by providing them the necessary tools to create positive change through targeted actions.
